Hello friends,
It’s time to talk about one of the prettiest restaurants in the city ...
Welcome to Oretta and all its Italian charm. 🇮🇹✨
If you’ve been on Instagram anytime in the last few years, chances are you’ve seen Oretta’s stunning interior pop up at least once. And honestly, the photos don’t do it justice. Between the pastel arches, tall ceilings, gold finishes, and the carefully curated lighting, it’s easily one of the most beautiful restaurant spaces we’ve visited in Toronto. Every corner feels like a photo opportunity, and even the bathrooms are worth checking out. But we weren’t just there for the views.
We came to try out their Aperitivo, which is Oretta’s version of happy hour. It runs from 3 to 7 PM, Monday to Friday, at their King West location. What makes their Aperitivo stand out is how complete and generous the menu is. There are more than 15 cocktails to choose from, along with over 20 food options, all at discounted prices. If you’re someone who loves variety during happy hour, Oretta should be on your list.
We arrived around 4 PM on a weekday without a reservation and were seated right away. The vibe was very relaxed, only a handful of tables were occupied, which made for a quiet, calm atmosphere. It felt like a perfect escape from the usual city rush, a nice spot for a chill weekday hangout, catching up with friends, or even a low-key date night.
Now, let’s get into the food.
We started with the calamari. It was crispy and had a pleasant kick to it, but the portion was surprisingly small. Given the price, we expected a bit more in quantity. Next, we ordered the Piemonte pizza. It was fine, nothing spectacular, just average. Not a dish we’d be rushing back for.
For our main courses, we tried the Pasta al Forno and the Margherita pizza. The pasta was warm, rich, and cheesy in the best way possible. It had that homemade comfort food feeling that hits the spot. The Margherita pizza was simple but well-made, featuring a great crust and fresh ingredients. These two dishes helped elevate the overall food experience and left us feeling satisfied.
The drinks
When it came to drinks, we were excited to sample a few from their Aperitivo menu: the Limoncello Spritz, Peach Spiritziano, and Italian Fizz. Visually, these drinks were stunning; each looked like it belonged on a carefully curated Pinterest board. Unfortunately, flavour-wise, they were a bit underwhelming. They were refreshing, yes, but none of them had a bold or exciting taste that stood out.
The highlights
One of the biggest highlights of our visit was the service. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful, with great recommendations that made a positive difference in our experience. Her upbeat energy really lifted the atmosphere and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
All in all, we paid around $35 CAD each, which felt reasonable given the lovely space and overall experience. The portions could definitely be a bit larger, but considering the quality and vibe, it was a solid outing.
Oretta’s Aperitivo is a great option if you’re looking for a stylish spot with a broad menu and a relaxed atmosphere. While some dishes and drinks didn’t quite hit the mark for us, the beautiful environment and attentive service make it worth a visit.
Have you been to Oretta? What’s your go-to order? Let us know!
We’ll drop a new hint on Tuesday and post the full review of our next stop on Thursday. Stay tuned, you won’t want to miss where we’re headed next.
